Canadians are so.... Arrogant?
One REALLY GOOD REASONIs what I am after, as to why Canadians (being one I can ask this :-))
are so damned arrogant about us being, well.... Canadians?
There also seems to be some sort of bloody
ignorant smugness about not being American....
I've heard comments along the lines of
if I were American, I'd:
a) Shoot myself
b) Move to Canada (Among others)
Both of which are highly ignorant, and to say the least, unhelpful and
hurtful at best.
Let's see what we've got to boast about:
Paul Martin - ummmm scratch that.
Jack Layton - ummmm no, scratch that too.
socialized healthcare, well, if this weren't so badly
abused, it would count.
Gay Marriage - nope nothing to be proud of there -
"ashamed of making this happen" is how we should feel.
Beautiful Scenery - O.K. that counts, but that's not unique to us,
the U.S. England, Japan(among others) also
have this - So, no corner on the market there.
Political system - no, that only counts as a joke, and not a good one either.
Court System - again, a joke and a very bad one.
Military - well, once upon a time, sure
Once upon a time, we had
- the third largest navy in the world
Once upon a time, we had
- the fourth largest airforce in the world
So what happened to us????
Trudeau maybe????
Ummmmm, ummmm geee, I'm losing faith....
Not much for us to be superior about that I can see...
But what about the U.S. ???
The U.S. outgives us per capita in humanitarian aid.
The U.S. is often there first to give disaster aid.
They will help out militarily,
(well, O.K. sometimes this takes some prodding)
They purchase incredible amounts of material from other countries,
(including Canada)
which keeps people employed. (And not always at minimum
wages either). Yes, they can be a a pain in the arse sometimes,
(but then so can some of us
(cough, cough, Carolyn Parrish Cough, hack))
Now, Pleaaase tell me why we're so bleading superior....
